Jargon Buster Vol.8 – Wire Rope Products Edition

It’s time for another edition of the SHS Products Jargon Buster. Today in Vol. 8 we are simplifying Wire Rope. If this is your first time with us let us fill you in. In the Jargon Buster we go through some of the terms used in the balustrade industry and attempt to simplify them for you. Whilst some words are more obscure than others it’s always good to have a refresher on the basics as well.

Swage Rigging Screw

The Swage Rigging Screw is a length of metal that fixes to your stainless steel posts and is used to tighten your wire rope infills.

Swage Fork Terminal

The Swage Fork Terminal is like the Rigging screw in that it holds your wire rope infills in place. However, the Fork Terminal cannot be used to tighten your wire rope infill.

Eyelet (Metal)

The metal eyelet is a blunt ended screw with a small metal loop at the end. This is used to hold your Swage Rigging Screw and Swage Fork Terminal in place as part of your balustrade, however; this is to be used on metal posts only.

Eyelet (Wood)

The wood eyelet is a sharpened screw with a small loop at the end. Like the metal eyelet it is used to hold your Swage Rigging Screw and Swage Fork Terminal in place as part of your balustrade, however; this is to be used on wooden posts only.

Wall Flange

The wall flange is a disc of metal that is used to screw into the wall and holds your handrail in place.

All of these components are used to create the wire rope balustrade which has both domestic and commercial capabilities.
